Black and white watercolor painting of a woman with long dark hair, closed eyes, and lips slightly parted, holding a curling lock of her hair.

Marta H. Mena- Bernal is a Spanish-Scandinavian artist based in Malmö, Sweden. She was born in Seville in 1988.

After the economic crisis of 2008, she became a nomad and travelled Spain for survival, until she finally moved to Sweden in 2014 to try out her luck.

Her paintings came out to light after being published as illustrations by the Swedish publishing house Rand after the year 2024.

Her art navigates different styles and disciplines, with paintings and illustrations in a surrealist and abstract style, along whimsical ceramic sculptures and philosophical texts and poetry.

Her, self-taught approach combined with the reflections on hardship embedded in her art pieces, would define the core of her production as Outsider Art.
